Senior Yoga Teacher, TrainerPRO

My first taste of yoga was in 1997 when I attended Integral Yoga classes in my hometown of Bournemouth. After a few sessions I was hooked and went on to take my Yoga Teacher Training Certificate with Sivananda Yoga at their main headquarters at the Ashram in Val Morin, Canada. Once I graduated, I stayed on to live and work at the ashram and gathered valuable knowledge of yoga teaching, as well as philosophy and experienced yoga as a way of life. When I returned to my hometown I set up classes immediately and within a year was teaching full time to a hugely diverse demographic, including to elderly people, families, children and teens as well as in public classes at local dance studios and church halls. I continued teaching yoga and learning more and more, taking as many yoga and bodywork trainings as I could and in 2005 I set up Shanticentre Yoga Holidays as a yoga retreat centre in rural Italy. I have taught hundreds of yoga retreats from there and also further afield in Morocco, Sri Lanka, and also in the UK. In 2016 I set up Shanticentre Training School to train yoga teachers and massage therapists and have been happily managing and running this school ever since. I teach a diverse range of courses and trainings, including in the areas of myofascial release, anatomy, chakra development, yin and restorative yoga. I am passionate about spiritual practice and yoga as a way to live life functionally and freely, and especially as a way to improve mental health.
